Life is busy; don't be discouraged about not having time to create a delicious Valentine's Day Dinner! There are many great possibilities that are easy for even the most inexperienced cooks! Here is an idea for a Valentine's dinner in under one hour.
Traditional meals are always a big hit. Everyone loves them and they can be very tasty and healthy. One draw back is they can be very time consuming. However, with a little creativity many of these popular favorites can be put together fairly quickly.
This easy Chicken Parmesan can be put together and cooked in just 30 minutes. It is a very basic version of the popular dish served in many restaurants.
With that short prep time, you have plenty of time to prepare side dishes to go with it. A salad is a very easy and healthy side. Simply chop up lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, and other vegetables. Make sure to offer several options for dressings, maybe even whip up a healthy home made one. (Estimated time 5-10 minutes depending on how many vegetables you add)
Since Chicken Parmesan is often served with garlic bread or Italian bread, take this chance to make your meal more festive. Cut the bread into heart shaped pieces. (Estimated time 5 minutes)
Here is another chance to make your meal complete and follow the Valentine's Day theme. Some quick and easy deserts to consider:
- Heart shaped Jell-O Jigglers (or even just red or pink jello with whipped cream). Keep in mind that if you make the jello yourself it requires time to 'set' before it can be served. The actual prep time itself is minimal though.
- Heart shaped brownies - use cookie cutters to make heart shaped brownie pieces. Consider adding festive sprinkles, frosting, or icing if time permits. As with the previous suggestion, make sure to remember to calculate cook time and time for the treats to cool.
- A candy salad - Mix chocolate chips (sometimes you can even find red and pink ones) with mini chocolate bars, red and pink m&ms, and other small candies. It is a very quick and very sweet holiday treat. Consider putting this mix on top of a sundae or adding whipped cream. This is the quickest option of the three because it does not require any cooling time.
Time Is On Your Side
These are all some quick and simple ideas to create the perfect and complete Valentine's Day dinner. Keep an eye on your time and plan accordingly and there is no reason why you couldn't pull this off in less than an hour.
Keep moving. While the Chicken Parmesan is cooking, prepare your salad and desert. While your entree is cooling, you can prepare the bread. Making the most of your time is the best way to create delicious meals in a shorter span of time.
